Our students at Kimber Hills Academy have completed three months of school so perhaps now is the time to be reminded of those goals that were set at the beginning of the academic year. The first goal was for our entire team (principal, teachers, parents, students, pastoral and support staff) to be committed to open communication with each other. It was my hope that as the principal, people would sense my availability, accessibility, and desire to hear input and concerns. In this way, as a school we could strive to be proactive rather than reactive to any challenges that we might face. For a period of eight Wednesday nights which started on October 10th and is now concluding on December 19th, I hosted an “Evening with the Principal” with each grade level. In retrospect, my time together with all the families was rich and rewarding.
The second goal was to build a strong sense of team, community, and cooperation throughout the entire school. We encouraged all families to become an active part of the life at Kimber Hills Academy by volunteering to help in the classroom, on field trips, for special projects, and for extracurricular activities such as band and sports. We asked all our families to fill out a parent survey that would help us build a database of their untapped wealth of knowledge, experiences, and resources.
Finally, the third goal for this academic year was to transform our students beyond academics and to build into the lives of these students a sense of world consciousness so that they would desire to follow Christ and make a real difference in this world.
We look forward to continuing to work together as a team as we strive to strengthen and grow as Kimber Hills Academy!
