The mission of Kimber Hills Academy’s Technology Program is to enhance learning through the use of technology. By integrating technology into the curriculum, students have greater opportunities for critical thinking, innovation, and knowledge acquisition.
Instructors provide comprehensive, scoped and sequenced lessons that incorporate 21st century skills and are aligned with the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) student standards. Resources are provided to students that equip them to adapt to changes in technology. Instead of routines, students are taught critical technology concepts through project-based curriculum and self-paced interactive assignments. Students are encouraged to create with an emphasis on fostering in-depth learning. Assignments utilize programs like iMovie, GarageBand, and the Microsoft Office Suite. The creation of the Digital Art Studios reinforces innovation and creativity. Students and staff are often seen recording videos, podcasts, and utilizing photo manipulation. Other web based programs like learning.com, Edmodo, and Office 365 not only ensure students have a wide-range of technical proficiencies, but also encourages collaboration. KHA’s Technology Program starts in the Preschool with weekly visits to the Resource Center (Windows Base Computers). Other resources readily available to all students are the portable MacBook Air Laptop Lab and the portable ipad Lab.
